O'ahu, Hawai'i

O'ahu, Hawai'i

I’m realizing it’s going to be hard to capture the last week in words… When I arrived in Hawaii two week ago, I didn’t know I’d be attending Spirit Fest, but as several people there told me with a wink or a twinkle in their eyes, I was right where I needed to be… It was a few days before the event that Cambria, the event logistics coordinator, mentioned they could use one more volunteer. Sarah checked in to see if I was interested. I said I was, that I’d love to be helpful, to be part of something. So glad I was!

Maui, Hawaii

Maui, Hawaii

After A Week Long Send Off, My Round the World Trip kicked off with eight days in Maui visiting my sister Sarah who has split her time between Hawaii and Alaska for many years. What an epic way to start this adventure! There was mist falling when my sister greeted me at the Kahului airport on Maui a week ago, so she teased me about bringing the rain from the mainland. We headed straight for Paia where she presented me with a young coconut and a lei, accompanied by the chant for the gifting-of-a-lei.

My Apartment at Punalu'u

My Apartment at Punalu'u

On Tuesday, I moved from My Brattleboro Landing Pad into an apartment on the property of my friends Erin Maile O’Keefe and Kevin O’Keefe…Now Erin and Kevin live in their tiny, which is considered a detached bedroom by the town. The house is occupied by some great folks, too, and now I’m in the apartment, which means that I am once again living in a tiny house community. This is the third one I’ve lived in, after Simply Home Community and Going Places.

Giving Thanks in 2020

Giving Thanks in 2020

I realized this morning when I woke up with four (mostly) unscheduled days ahead of me that a Thanksgiving blog post has become a bit of a tradition for me… I know for many people around the world this has been an extremely challenging year… And yet, I strongly believe that gratitude can be transformed into generosity and dedication to the wellbeing of our planet and its people. So let’s be grateful for what we can be and dedicated to creating more to be grateful for.

Stay Home & Spring Clean

Stay Home & Spring Clean

I’ve particularly appreciated how many people have been offering skills and teaching others. So as we settle into Real Virtuality I’ve decided to offer my Downsizing E-Course again. If all this time at home is making you antsy to FINALLY DO SOMETHING about the clutter, sign up to do some spring cleaning with me. Registration for the April-May Downsizing E-Course closes Wednesday, April 15 so that participants can get started on their first lesson and challenge. Claim your spot today! Let’s do this!

Real Virtuality

Real Virtuality

When I was little we used to talk about how cool it would be if we could see people while we were talking to them on the phone. Now it’s the future. Most of the things I did this week involved seeing other people while talking to them, but virtually. It occurred to me, part way through the week, as I was popping in and out of zooms and facetimes and hangouts and phone calls and texts that we’re now living in real virtuality!

2019 Recap & 2020 Look Ahead

2019 Recap & 2020 Look Ahead

There have been some big transitions in my life which haven’t been easy to put into words. But I miss sharing vignettes of the little life. So today, as we embark upon both a new year and a new decade, I’ve decided to do a recap of 2019 and a look ahead for 2020.

Going Places Turns Two

Going Places Turns Two

This weekend our Tiny Cohousing Community, Going Places, turned two. It’s crazy to think that we’ve been doing life together for two whole years, but here we are! In a lot of ways, being snowed in worked out even better because we have a brand new community mate named Rosemary and we got to hang out with her in our community for two days.

2018 Recap & 2019 Look Ahead

2018 Recap & 2019 Look Ahead

Yesterday, as has become our tradition, Isha and I went for a hike (this one urban) and recapped 2018 (what was good, what was hard, what we learned). We also shared what we’re excited about and nervous about for 2019. Since I haven’t been sharing with the greater world recently, I figured I’d share a few of the highlights at this point of transition and some excitement about the year to come.

Dinner for Six

This weekend Isha and I hosted our first dinner party for six here in T42. And it turns out it was actually trickier in our house than it had been in Bayside Bungalow, but we made it work and had a great time, too!Isha and I spent most of the afternoon Saturday prepping things up, using mostly ingredients from our winter CSA from Full Plate Farm and we had fun working in kitchen together.
